Sometimes we find it surprising that there are many ways that we can help God to accomplish His mission even here locally in Iowa. We know that there are many Americans that do not get enough food and there are many Americans who do not have adequate shelter. We also know that there are many Americans who have not heard the gospel or have become discouraged with the church. We believe that we have been blessed in many ways and seek to help those in need and to share the good news with those who have not heard or are frustrated with the church. God’s love is just as strong as God’s justice. We are called to be God’s people. Together, we seek to follow Christ by extending a helping hand and by sharing His love for all on earth!

Mission projects we are working include:

Algona Food Pantry – On the second Sunday of each month, members are encouraged to give special offerings to the Algona Food Pantry.

Lakeshore Center on Okoboji – In 2013, 2014, and 2015, we received matching funds from our Presbytery to adopt a cabin and the Rec. Center at the Lakeshore Center on Okoboji (formerly known as the Presbyterian Camp on Okoboji). We have used these combined funds as well as many hours of dedicated work to update the Linden Camp and the Rec Center. 

Other mission opportunities

We have funded a variety of local mission activities and have participated in youth and adult mission trips throughout the years. We have an active Mission Committee who is constantly looking for new and excellent organizations with which to partner.

In 2015, we traveled to Omaha, Nebraska and spent time with the people of ABIDE Omaha. They are doing amazing work in the North Omaha inner city and we were privileged to work with them for a short time. We are looking forward to working with them again in 2016. Details to come soon!

As a further part of our planning for this year, we are currently looking at a number of both local and worldwide mission opportunities in which we hope to engage soon. Watch for additions to our mission support in the near future!
